Our English classroom is a place of challenge and discovery. Students spend the year challenging themselves to become better readers, writers, and thinkers.
My students are full of energy and creativity.
They are dreamers and thinkers. They are growing and learning in the same community that I grew up in and that inspired me to be a teacher.
My students constantly surprise me with their dedication to growing in their skills. I am especially impressed by their ability to relate the themes of their books to their own lives.
My Project
We will be using these sets of dystopian books to conduct book clubs in our classroom. Our study of dystopian novels will be used to promote discussions and write arguments about the power of government, individuality, rules and order, and the idea of a perfect society.
Now that my students have come to love reading books of their choice, I want to introduce them to the joys of book clubs.
Having book clubs based on a particular genre will allow us to dive deep into our books with thoughtful discussions and activities. My students will discover the love of reading all over again with these books.
