This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work with a diverse group of 20 1st grade students in a title 1 school. My students come into the classroom with a burst of energy!

They are amazing little humans who are eager to explore, create, and learn.

My Project

I want to step up my phonemic awareness and phonics instruction. In first grade it is vital that I teach students to become decoders.

I have created a list of resources that will help me to engage students in phonemic awareness and phonics instruction.

The document camera will help make word sort spelling patterns modeling visible. The poster paper and post it notes will be an interactive activity where students can do word hunts with the weekly spelling patterns. I will utilize the word puzzles and flashcards during guided reading instruction.
