My students need Duplos to learn to put pieces together to create wholes. This is a math and a reading skill they can practice while having fun with Duplos.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
This is a bright and active group of five- and six-year-old children. They love to create and tell stories. They love to read and be read to. They are quickly learning to work together which is a vital skill in our world. My children work in small groups and independently throughout the day.
We grow in all areas by practicing and playing together.
Writing throughout the day in science, social studies, math, and even in art helps us in so many ways. We get noisy, but we learn so much together. We need supplies to grow as readers, writers, and illustrators. We need to show the colors of our ideas. There is so much to learn.
My Project
When we read, we take pieces and put them together to make wholes. We gain understanding by seeing the completed concept. Duplos are a fun way to practice these skill sets.
As a class, my students need practice in seeing pieces become wholes.
We need to follow patterns, which are provided in these sets to build the desired outcome. When the pattern is completed we will have a town to visit and move people throughout.
With these Duplo sets, we will practice math skills of counting, and sequencing numbers. We will create towns and move the people through them. We will create monsters, roads, cars, and whatever else we can imagine. We will work together which is so hard for us.
