This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
This is a bright and active group of five- and six-year-old children. They love to create and tell stories. They love to read and be read to. They are quickly learning to work together, which is a vital skill in our world. My children work in small groups and independently throughout the day.
We grow in all areas by practicing and playing together.
Writing throughout the day in science, social studies, math, and even in art helps us in so many ways. We get noisy, but we learn so much together. We need supplies to grow as readers, writers, and illustrators. We need to show the colors of our ideas. There is so much to learn.
My Project
These simple machines sets will open the door to STEM exploration in our kindergarten. They will let us explore levers, pulleys and wheels. They will let us build simple machines and see them work. They will help us see these machines throughout our world.
These kits will also help us work on working together.
By building these machines together, we will talk and plan our steps. We will work as a team to solve problems. We will use incorrect, then later correct vocabulary, to discuss our building issues. As partners, we will plan how to solve these issues. These Duplo Simple Machine sets will let us grow as scientists.
