Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our students here at our middle school are an extreme pleasure to work with due to their persistence and courage. Many of our students are from impoverished areas and simply making it to school is a success. They are a lot of the time responsible for walking younger siblings to school, walking through crime and drug ridden areas, yet arrive at school ready to learn.
In addition, we have a large population of students who speak no or very little English but are determined to adapt and succeed in their new environment.
My Project
Hello, we had the unfortunate experience of having our school vandalized this past weekend. Many of the items above were stolen or broken. We used the fans to help circulate the air in our gym spaces as there is no air conditioning. The speakers were used to help with instruction or provide entertainment in gym class or various school events. The school launched a new initiative through verizon and issued Ipads to faculty and students to assist with instruction, all of our chargers were stolen, leaving us with limited charging availability. The soccer goals and pool buoy's will be a great addition to our gym spaces and pool area. Many of our students love soccer and these will be used by both our gym classes and soccer teams. We will be able to use these on our field in the back of our school which currently doesn't have goals. We will use the buoy's to replace existing ones to section off areas of the pool.
