My Students

If you were to walk in to our 5th grade Reading and Writing Workshop block you might find students digging deep into their favorite book, flipping through a recent magazine or marking up online article over current social issues. We are a classroom of critical readers who are always asking hard questions about our texts.

Our school is located in the heart of Capital Hill in DC.

We are blocks away from United States Capital, surrounded by history, culture and diversity.

My Project

In fifth grade ELA, we use small groups to really aim at the most important point of the lesson. In small groups, the teacher is able to identify the most critical skill for certain students. Having these materials will help them to have concrete texts for them to use when doing small group lessons. As a teacher, I need these resources for continuity, and for the students to have access to texts on their level. This project would ensure that my students have access to those materials on daily basis. Every student in my class would benefit from these small group materials.
