Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come to school every day excited and ready to learn. They love new challenges, and are always looking to expand their knowledge.
My students are some of the most athletic, hard working, and dedicated individuals in the world.
My scholars deserve an equal education! In our community, these scholars often get shorted the great opportunities offered by many other public school districts. We lack the funding and resources to allow these deserving students to learn outside the box.
My Project
My co-teacher and I have longed for this specific equipment for quite some time now. In a field where equipment is very expensive, it is often not easy to obtain such crucial equipment for the physical education setting. My inner city students have suffered from lack of equipment and dulled down activities for too long. They deserve better, and I am hoping this wonderful opportunity will help us take a step in the right direction.
We are using this project to seek out help in obtaining two very important items needed to provide my scholars with the proper fitness testing program, which is required by the state.
These items will help to fully achieve all three test requirements. A sit-and-reach flexibility box measures a students flexibility. For quite some time now we have been wrestling with a broken and very outdated box that doesn't give an accurate reading. The speaker will allow us to play the audio recordings needed to complete both the muscular strength and endurance requirements of the test. This test is extremely important to the health and growth of all students and I can't stress enough just how important this equipment is to the process.
The final portion of this projects seeks assistance in obtaining sets of beachballs and foam balls. These two types of balls are probably the most utilized pieces of equipment in physical education. Standard balls allow students to practice most standard skills at all age levels, making them extremely beneficial. Obtaining these balls will expand the amount of activities we can make available tenfold. We have often suffered from not enough/damaged balls, which increases downtime and decreases learning. My students also love volleyball. However, a standard volleyball is too hard for a beginner volleyball player. Please help me help my students!
