My Students

My preschool students have diverse backgrounds and exhibit a variety of special needs as well as delayed speech and language skills.

These young students inspire me as they remain persistent, energetic, creative, and full of joy and love!

They overcome obstacles everyday in their communication skills, and I am often left in awe that I get to witness so much of their progress. Would you consider fostering their communication skills further by donating to our cause? We are ALL wonders!

My Project

Many of my preschool students begin the school year with minimal communication skills. Some are completely non-verbal and don't have an adaptive form of communication yet. Our team has been able to effectively utilize single switch buttons in the past with early communicators.

A dual-button device, however, would open avenues for deeper expression of their wants and needs.

By pairing the buttons with visual aids, students will be able to make choices with the dual button system.

For example, they can request a drink or food during mealtime. They can choose between two games in therapy or two stations during classroom centers. They could even use it to answer yes and no questions. As they continue to use the device, they will gain confidence in their abilities as they grow their communication skills.
