Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school has been the lucky recipient of a few different programs this year, such as Brighter Bites (receiving healthy produce for every family) and Operation Warm (every child in the school received a free winter jacket). Our families are in need of many resources to meet their basic needs. I would love to make sure that art is a part of my students' experience in the classroom as well.
My students from our Title 1 school in MD are in need of arts integration as a part of their school days!
My smaller group of only 18 students this year have really enjoyed the art projects we have done together so far. My 2nd graders seem to really concentrate and express themselves during our art projects in the classroom.
My Project
My students love to paint and create artwork. Whenever the kids paint, they have to lay their artwork all over the tables around the room or on the floor in the hallway.
Having a drying rack in our room will allow their work to dry neatly without the loss of space in our room for the rest of the day!
My students and I will be so thankful to help keep our artwork neat and organized while drying. We recently made a giant mural for a wall in our classroom for Read for the Record day and its gorgeous! We had to lay their drying painted houses in the hallway and hoped other classes would not step on them. If we had a drying rack we would paint more frequently!
