My Students

Our rural school serves over 700 students. This reading project will serve 25 elementary aged boys and girls who are eager to begin their journey to becoming fluent readers.

Although 80% of them live in poverty, and more than 60% of these young boys and girls are overcoming the language barriers of learning a second language, they are hard workers who only wish to achieve at the same rate as their peers, and one day leave their footprint on our community and the world.

My Project

With these customizable whiteboards I will be able to efficiently teach whole group and small group phonics instruction. I can place various graphic organizers in the clear sleeve that students will be able to directly write on. We practice CVC words a lot in kindergarten and being able to insert handouts will save many copies. We use tap mats handouts with alkonian boxes daily. Students that need more scaffolding will greatly benefit from using this type of whiteboard because it will allow me to provide visuals that will help them succeed.
