I teach an amazing group of third graders who are energetic and enthusiastic about learning. They love learning and push themselves to do their best.
My students have a diverse set of learning styles and with that comes the need to create a learning environment that supports all learning styles.
This can be accomplished by creating student areas within the room that are engaging and allow students to collaborate and interact with others. This also fosters a community of learners within the classroom, which is what I strive to do on a daily basis.
My Project
I am requesting 3 round dry erase top tables as sitting in a circle naturally helps foster cooperation and collaboration among students. New tables will give my students more space to move around the classroom and complete a variety of collaborative activities. I love that the round tables help to foster collaboration and the dry erase tops allow students to show their work in a whole new way. We currently have 2 brown rectangular tables in our room and these would replace those tables. Students find it hard to read what they write on the brown table tops and the rectangular shape is not conducive to natural collaboration.
From STEM challenges to reading groups to math tasks, round tables will be the perfect addition to my classroom and will help to create the environment that I am striving to create with my students.
