This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach pre-kindergarten at a Title I school. In order to be eligible for prekindergarten students come from low-income homes. Our Pre-Kindergarten program helps the students not only get ready for kindergarten academically but also socially and emotionally.
My students are curious, creative, energetic, and amazing.
They deserve to be completely ready for kindergarten in all areas. A lack of access to resources should not stop them from being ready for their future. It is my passion to help my students get what they deserve while in pre-kindergarten.
My Project
Prekindergarten students are gaining experience with writing. We provide multiple opportunities to write throughout the day.
Sometimes the dry erase boards are the most popular items in the classroom and everyone wants to write.
Currently, the class is highly motivated to write their name. They all want to practice but we do not have enough materials for all of them to have a turn.
If we get these materials, we will have enough for everyone to have one. Also, I love that writing is a current interest for the students in my class.
