My students face so many challenges, but they realize that education is the vehicle to drive them towards a more promising future. With so many issues, it is my mission as their educator to take them away and rescue them from their pressing worries through the joys of meaningful experiences and exposure to what life has to offer.
Our Title I school is eligible for 100% free/reduce-price lunch program and we have many students who come from military families, retired and active duty.
We strive to plant seeds of hope and reassure the students that education is the key that unlocks the doors of opportunity and future success.
By understanding that there is more to life than what meets the eye, it is my belief that my students will do what it takes to beat the odds, defy the statistics, and embrace the world of education and all it has to offer.
My Project
Personally I find dry erase markers to be one of the most useful and simple supplies to use in the classroom. With the push for a more paperless classroom, almost everything we do that doesn't involve technology, involves a dry erase marker. I use dry erase markers when teaching daily whole-group instruction, and students use them for independent work, center work, and small group work in all subjects. The best thing about using dry erase markers and whiteboard is that students (and teachers) can erase and fix mistakes easily and quickly.
That being said, dry erase markers run out FAST in our classroom, and unfortunately the good markers are NOT cheap!
Teachers and students can not afford the high price of constantly restocking dry erase markers, especially when they are such a critical piece of our classroom.
I would love to prepare ahead for next year and get stocked up on dry-erase markers now, as well as new student whiteboards. Your donation will help my students by putting such a simple yet effective tool in their hands without us having to worry about running out of markers way too early in the year.
