Our high school Black history celebration this year was very successful and one of the reasons why was that we took advantage of some very talented students. We opened our program with the traditional KUKU rhythm of West Africa, played live by our newly formed, all girl, drum team. Along with our African dance team, the program began with joyous sights and sounds that set an exciting mood lasting until the end of the program. In order to create such a successful program, we needed to borrow an assorted collection of drums of various qualities. With a set of quality hand drums we could expand our team and expand our performances. I am requesting three drums and three instruments, which could be used in celebrations for years to come. These are: a Djembe, a Dumbek, a Bongo, a Fusion Bell, a Super Guiro, and a pair of Egg Shakers. Please help us continue our strong start of exposing our students to traditional African music with a collection of hand drums.
