Our 400+ students in kindergarten through 5th Grade are eager to learn budding musicians! We are a Title I elementary school in Lakeland, Florida. We like to have enough drums for drum circle activities in the regular music class. The drums will also be used for special music therapy groups to encourage leadership, cooperation, and responsibility for students with behavior problems and those who struggle with other social issues. Special concerts using the drums will be performed for community events as well! Thank you so much for your consideration!
My Project
Every student in my school will enjoy learning to play rhythms and participate in drum circle activities for years to come with the addition of these 6 drums. Students will learn to play with the group as well as find their unique musical voice. The drums will also be used for music therapy sessions for students with special needs called DRUMBEAT. The DRUMBEAT curriculum is a program that originated in Australia and is being introduced in Florida to help students who struggle with social issues. The drum circle creates a community in which children can better understand relationships and find acceptance.
