Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are full of energy. They are 4 years old. My students enjoy anything that they can touch and manipulate.
My students do not let the language barriers stop them from learning and exploring.
The majority of my students’ first language is Spanish and some are just learning to use their words to communicate with the world.
Our school serves low-income families and with the majority being one-parent families. Our school gives the students the ability to explore STEAM activities while developing the social and emotional skills that will prepare them to be successful in the world.
My Project
My students like music and they like to be active when listening and playing music. They currently have a drum set that is in poor condition but they make the best of it.
A Wild Things Pentatonic Steel Drum would produce a sound that the kids have not heard and will allow my students to be creative.
This steel drum would be for the outdoor music area; therefore, it would be available to all the students in my school.
The drum will be put away at the end of the day to protect it from the weather.
