Our school is a very small rural school 10 miles from the nearest gas station. There are less than 200 students from Kindergarten through 12th grade, with a little over half using the free or reduced lunch program. Since we are such a small community, we are also a very close-knit community, with support for the arts and sports just flowing in. The small community allows for more individualized attention to students and all teachers work together to help our students to be kind, respectful, and responsible members of society.
Music is a passion to many of our students, parents, and community members.
Over 95% of students and parents attend our concerts, with the overwhelming majority of 5th-7th graders participating in band. All of our students strive for excellence in their performances and excitedly perform for their families, friends, and all members of the community. Each and every day, students are excited to come to music or band class, a place where they can be creative and expressive in their own way!
My Project
Our band is growing and need equipment to support this growth. Currently, we have enough equipment for four drumline members, which is what we had this past marching season. Next year, we will be increasing our drumline by 150% to SIX! We do not have the equipment needed for this increase in numbers.
Our numbers increasing 150% next year has given our small school a great problem.
I love that more students are wanting to be involved, but we need help to get them the equipment we need. With this bass drum, we can grow our band program even further, for years to come. This bass drum will help our marching band, as well as act as a second bass drum for concert band usage. Dozens of our students will benefit from this bass drum for years to come!
