Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students love music. We practice beats and write cadences for our school expectations and school pledge. My students like to share their work with others. Last year, we performed several times for our families and friends. We create songs and music all year long!

My Project

Drumming and music has been proven to help with trauma and stress. By giving each of my students a set of drumsticks, my classes can create beats and songs that can help them grow neuropathways and forget about Covid for a while.

With their own drumsticks, my students can drum their way through this pandemic in a fun and meaningful way.

Students will also learn chords and teamwork using ukuleles to create music with our drummers. We can use these items at home and in school, creating a stage wherever we are.
