My students are part of a larger suburban school. They are vivacious and so full of life. Many of my students come from families that struggle daily to provide the basics. However, my students love to experience all types of instruments and music. Their thirst for learning and exploring their world through music inspires me daily to do my best to give them what they need, want and deserve.
My school is diverse in cultures and countries represented from across the world.
My students love to experience a wide variety of music encompassing the cultures and countries from which they originate. My hope is to be able to help them experience these world cultures in as many varied hands-on opportunities as I can.
My Project
My school is a large school with classes totaling over 30 students oftentimes. Having a drum for every child while doing rhythm and drumming activities enhances their enjoyment and the scope of what a student can learn. By adding a few at a time, my hope is to one day have enough drums for every student to be able to experience world cultures through drumming activities.
Every child (and adult) loves to play the drums!
In music classes, we often have to take turns for everyone to have a chance to experience the joy found in drumming. Little by little, I hope to increase the number of drums at my school so the students get to have more hands-on experiences in cultures found all over the world through drumming.
