My Students

Students in my music program range from students who have never sung in a choir or played a musical instrument to those who have for years. I teach the guitar class on campus, as well as 4 choirs; one of the choirs is non-audition and three are ones that students must audition for to be in. We are a four-year public high school, and I would love to keep seeing students excel in music. Students sign up for these classes with a willingness and drive to learn music, and leave with a desire to continue that passion throughout their lives.

My Project

Last year, we were finally able to replace all of the heads on our drum set, which had not been replaced for well over five years. This meant we would be able to use them more frequently, and they would stay in tune!

Now we need to make sure we can properly sit at them, and make them a bit quieter, as needed.

The drum throne (seat) we currently have is not tall enough for our shorter students, nor is it comfortable for our taller students. As for the mutes, we had a few pieces last year that required a more muted sound, so we had to make some do-it-yourself mutes with older t-shirts we had. These items would help us produce a more professional look and sound at performances!
