This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our student population represents a very diverse collection of demographics. Many of our students, and their families, are considered low-income status residents within our community. As you can probably imagine, our students encounter a great deal of adversity as a result to their home life experience.
For our students, the art of musical expression represents a place of safety, and a space that will allow them to grow and learn as students, artists, and human beings.
Students who are involved in the band program have consistently displayed an increase in school attendance and academic achievement. Our students also aim to add value to the overall school environment by maintaining the highest level of character and integrity as student leaders.
My Project
Our CHS Sugarbear Drumline members are in need marching snare drum leg rests and carrier slings for the 2019 marching band season. Many of our students are not able to purchase these materials on their own, and are typically in need of assistance.
Your donation will help give provide these materials for our students, and ensure that every student who desires to perform with the drumline this season will be afforded the opportunity.
One of our biggest challenges as a music program has been ensuring that our students have access to quality musical instruments and equipment. With your help, we can continue to build on our instrument availability for students, and provide them with the very best music education experience.
