Our district is a county-wide, pre-k through 12th grade school, comprised of students from eight neighboring towns. There is an unmistakable small-town feel when you enter our building. The support from our community is unbelievable! Our district's music program for band and choir was cut approximately nine years ago due to unfortunate budget cuts. Over the past few years, the majority of the remaining musical equipment has disappeared.
After not having a music program for nearly nine years, our district restarted the program from scratch in January 2019!
With the support of our community, we have been able to raise some funds to purchase items that are desperately needed to run the program. We have around 120 fourth through twelfth-grade band students and around 35 junior high and high school choir students! We are all working so hard to make this program amazing once again!
My Project
With the strict new policies in place due to the current pandemic, band class has a lot of new restrictions. We have to be extremely careful that students don't use the same instruments or materials or from a previous class.
I have multiple band classes throughout the day which include high school, junior high, and elementary (4th grade beginner band).
With the constant flow of students in and out of the band room, I am trying to assign and label instructional materials so that students don't share resources. Drum sticks are in constant use because we have a large percussion section. With your help, we can label pairs of drum sticks for each student to use.
