Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are some of the most motivated kids in the district. They come in ready to make music every day! I teach in a Title I school in an urban district.
They are amazing and dedicated students.
They work hard with whatever task they are given. The band is about 50 members strong. Students in my band are dedicated and stay after school many days a week for rehearsals and concert performances. The school has over 1,500 students enrolled.
My Project
My students need drum sticks and timpani mallets to perform in music classes. Students will have the ability to receive a meaningful education with the appropriate materials. It is the equivalent of having students come to math, english, or science with a pencil, paper, books, and calculators. They will learn proper techniques on each of their instruments using the appropriate drum sticks and mallets.
These donations will take a financial burden off of our collective shoulders.
These necessary items, in other more affluent districts, may not be as nearly big deal, but in a school with no budget, these items are critical. Thank you for your consideration in donating!
