My students need Flocabulary to stay on top of current events in an engaging and age-appropriate way! They need magnetic poetry to write their own raps inspired by Flocabulary!
Our 8th grade is the best! My 8th graders come from a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences. Our school is a Title I school. We're a suburban community that pulls students from a wide range of neighborhoods.
My 8th graders are on the edge between childhood and adulthood; they are so ready to soar.
In middle school, each day brings them closer to discovering who they're going to be. Each day gives them an opportunity to grow into responsible, respectful adults.
My Project
My students LOVE Flocabulary! Each week we view the Week in Rap video which keeps my 8th graders up to speed with current events. Beyond current events, we view Flocabulary’s videos on other ELA topics like the point of view and test-specific vocabulary.
Flocabulary is so engaging and fun that my students never let me forget a week of Week in Rap!
Flocabulary has a rap creator section of their website which helps kids write their own raps and put it to a beat. To help my students do this task, I'm also requesting a magnetic poetry set so kids can write raps whenever they feel inspired!
Flocabulary is so important to my students! I’d love to continue providing this resource for another year of learning fun!
