This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
“Every artist was first an amateur”- Ralph Waldo Emerson
My students come from the city and counties of St Louis are fabulous artists.
I have the most wonderfully creative middle school students who are finding themselves and their creativity. They are inclusive of everyone and invested in developing strong character which makes each of them unique.
My students work together, lift each other up, and make sure they put their best foot forward each and every day.
My Project
Every Tuesday, my middle school students read during their advisory period. It’s part of a school-wide program called DEAR Tuesday where we Drop Everything And Read! We need more books to fill our classroom library so they will have many choices to read throughout the school year. They really love graphic novels and stories that they can relate to so I have chosen some student favorites. We need to keep their love for reading alive so there is no better way than providing them with books that will keep their interest while also inspiring the creative minds of my artistic middle schoolers.
