Mrs. Jacobs from Atlanta GA is requesting books through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need the Garmin GPS handheld devices to assist us as we participate in the World's Largest Treasure Hunt as we explore and learn about our city and state through geocaching.

My students come in eager, full of excitement, and ready to learn and develop their critical and creative thinking skills. Although my school is 100% free and reduced-price lunch, my students are students that have been identified for the Gifted and Talent Development Program. They come in with a willingness to think outside of the box and beyond.
My school has served as the cornerstone for an urban community in Atlanta for decades.
The students may come from broken homes or unstable living situations, but this does not deter them from coming to school each day with a determination to learn and succeed. My students are determined to learn at the highest level possible.
My students deserve the best in education and should have access to the latest trends, technologies, and experiences. I keep striving to find new ways to bring this to them.
With the addition of ten hand-held GPS devices to our class, students will be able to create, document and explore geocaching opportunities with our school community and throughout the Georgia regions.
Geocaching create opportunities to promote active student engagement, critical thinking and problem solving skills and enhance map and geography skills.
It also promotes team-building, outdoor play opportunities, and pride in the history of the community.
Geocaching is an innovative learning opportunity that motivates students to learn and take interest in their community. Students learn history, map skills, reading skills and math skills to create fantastic treasure hunting experiences. Students will develop and enhance cooperative learning skills as they work in small groups to create unique caches, research and identify caches, and use GPS hand-held devices to locate and leave caches.
