My students live on the outskirts of the largest city in our state. Our neighborhoods border some of the tougher parts of that city. Our state's high schools are known to have some of the lowest graduation rates in the nation, some of our high schools included.
My students are young, bright, and motivated citizens.
They are our nation's future. These students are growing up in a time where they are known as the "digital natives" yet most lack access to devices. The few times they are given the chance to use technology is to take a standardized test. They deserve better.
My Project
Currently I have a core group of students who have been working on their UAV piloting skills. They have been learning about some of the physics behind flying including altitude, pitch, and yaw. They are really making progress with these crucial skills.
In order to continue their growth they will need replacement parts for the drones that we are using to learn.
We are currently using micro drones to learn the basics of flight. Once we have become proficient with these skills we will move up to larger drones and work on our cinematography skills as well as FPV racing drones.
