Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Most of our students are underserved, Title 1 students. They have not had the opportunity to experience the STEM/STEAM (hands-on) concepts. As a result, very few know how to operate a power tools, machines, computer, or software such as CAD, G&M code, simple programming, etc. to generate ideas.

Through Project Lead The Way - PLTW, our students are being exposed to "hands-on" concepts and opportunities to experience what the STEM/STEAM concept is about.

However, for the "hands-on" concept to happen, equipment, tools, tables, desks, projector/TV, SW, etc. are needed. To keep up with today's ever changing technologies, our Engineering Room needs to be updated as well.

My Project

We want engineering students to enhance their learning experience through the use of drone technology. This technology is here to stay and companies are using it and will be in need of skilled, licensed, drone personnel. This is a great opportunity to teach our students about this technology and prepare them for prospective jobs, that may not even exist, today. In addition, our female students would greatly benefit if they decide to enter the Girls Take Flight program.

It would be great if our students can experiment (play) with these "hand-on" devices to take aerial views of their schools, their work, activities, etc.
