Our students are immersed in STEAM this year. Being a STEAM school means we focus on science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics. We are changing our mindset on how we approach our lessons and curriculum as we focus on the 4c's-creativity, collaboration, communication, and critical thinking.
Our students learn best when they are doing hands-on activities using robots, coding, completing challenges and working with technology like Makey Makeys.
You can see the excitement and wonder whenever we try new things in the library and in their classrooms. Students stretch their curiosity with the Makey Makey's and create more complex creations that get the younger students interested and engaged.
My Project
Giving students the opportunity to work with the Makey Makey's and explore all the different ways they can show their learning is exciting. Students are just beginning to see what they can do with the Makey Makey's . Using the Makey Makey's isn't just showing that the students can code, it's also giving them the opportunity to work on their communication, science, and critical thinking skills.
Makey Makey's give our students different ways to showcase what they know in new and innovative ways.
Some students will be creating musical instruments using recyclables to demonstrate science concepts. Others will be exploring space using the Makey Makey's and other presentation tools. Other students will be using the Makey Makey's to create a light show for their presentation while dribbling and doing other activities for their parents. The sky is the limit when the students start dreaming of things they can do with the Makey Makey's.
