My students are very hard-working and passionate about theatre and all arts programs. They have worked so hard over the years, and this past year received school, district, and city-wide recognition for their hard work and dedication.
These students may appear to have it all, but that is not the case for many of them.
Many of my students come from lower-income households, and that makes it very difficult for them to attend events, conferences, and obtain personal costumes and props needed for productions. This will help us continue to have high-quality production.
My Project
This project is geared toward building up our costuming program within our theatre department. I would like for us to have two sewing machines with a variety of thread colors. I would also love to provide them dress forms to help build costumes for actors of all different shapes and sizes. The dress forms are size adjustable, and I am requesting two that are medium and one that is large to help ensure we can accurately dress all of our actors. We began building costumes this year and realized that we desperately need all of these materials to make us self-sufficient in our costuming for our productions and not have to ask parents or the FACS department to borrow these items.
