This year, I am working with a very special group of students, our newcomers. These students have just moved to the United States with their families. They have been in the country less than one year. Many are from Mexico and Central America, but we also have a few students from the Middle East. We are so happy they are at our school, but they need some additional help catching up with their English.
Our newcomers are excited to be in the United States and eager to learn English!
However, we need some additional resources to support their learning. That's where you come in, dear donors. With budget cuts over the years, classroom resources are just the basics. We need your help to make our classrooms come to life!
We have two pairs of siblings who are in need of some basic clothes for school: uniform pants, shirts, jackets, and shoes. They are funny, sweet, kind, and hard-working. However, as newcomers, they need some additional support, both in and out of school. We've been working with them to help them learn how to be in school in the U.S., learn English, and make friends in their classes. We realize they need some extra love from our community in the form of clothes to get them through the winter months.
The students are so resilient and dedicated to school, not having uniforms or clothes that fit right does not stop them from coming everyday and doing their best!
If you donate to this project, you will help their journey to school be a little more comfortable as they'll be in uniform like their peers with warm feet & toes, ready to do their best learning!
