Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Year in an year out our program has absolutely had great students, students that love creating and fixing anything with wheels and/or motors. It is a pleasure to seem them fabricate, repair and learn about an industry that they love and can eventually make a good living from.
Many of my students graduate and go on to study and get professions in the industry.
Most are children of farm workers that are looking to make a better way of life. I too would like to make it possible for them to be able to achieve that goal. Quality equipment and appropriate work attire not only increases confidence and moral, but also provides a measure of safety
My Project
My students love to work on anything that has four wheels, they enjoy making broken car work, and bringing them back to "life". The students that I currently have are some of the most motivated and creative I have had. They bring in old shirts and shoes to keep clean and neat. However, this does not give a professional image. Having a set of uniform dressed students would not only look professional but improve their confidence.
Field trips, meetings, social events, and anywhere else we is a potential employment opportunity; lets show of our work and dress well too.
