I love that my students work hard to develop new skills and enjoy cooking. Many of my students are low income and are unable to purchase their own chef uniforms for cooking competitions. Our students have a strong work ethic and have demonstrated resiliency by working to complete tasks even when family obligations take them away from school. Our culinary teams have preformed very well in local cooking competitions and have assisted community organizations in fundraising efforts.
The goal of our culinary program is to help students develop workplace skills that will help them work toward a career in culinary or provide their families with nutritious meals.
Students leave the program with basic skills in food preparation and increased confidence in their skills and abilities as employees in the culinary industry.
My Project
My Project will provide each student with a chef uniform, allowing them to dress professionally in uniforms that fit properly. Professional chef clothing will help promote the mindset of a professional and build their identify as a team. Students will dress in uniform and be prepared to compete in culinary competitions as a team. Just as a basketball team identifies themselves as a member of a team by wearing uniforms, dressing alike will bring my students together as a team which portrays confidence and professionalism.
With the proper uniform students will be able to focus on demonstrating their skills and knowledge in food preparation and safety.
