Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are challenged in the classroom, on the field of play, and other extra-curricular activities. How they choose to use the time is important. They are either studying, practicing, conditioning, strength training, participating in competitions, or partaking in other activities to make them more well-rounded. So, staying organized and utilizing time appropriately is paramount. These kids have fun, build character, and learn discipline and teamwork which is built through athletics.
My students participate in 30 JV & Varsity Athletic Programs most of which participate in more than one activity.
Our student-athlete program is expanding due to the academic success of our Academy and Magnet Programs. We are a Title I School meaning that over 80% of my students are on free or reduced-price lunch.
My Project
Not many high school students stay after school 4-5 days a week just to help other students. My students do. They are part of an elite team. Their daily routine consists of preparing the athletic training room for student-athletes to receive treatments and rehabilitation exercises, they prepare the facilities for activities by providing hydration and placing emergency equipment for the 29 male and female sports, and finally they assist with post-practice or game treatments. These responsibilities encompass mental and physical tasks inside the athletic training room and at the athletic venues whether inside or outside.
With these materials, my team of students "Dress For Success" by uniformly presenting themselves in a professional manner while staying warm.
Like the athletes that they attend to they believe ‘You play how you look’. These hoodies will ‘FUEL’ them and will help them to gain acknowledgment from the athletes, coaches, and community. These clothes will create a uniform that will bond them together as a team. Their commitment deserves to be recognized. This project will outfit this team of students as a group of young professionals. They will be dressed for success just as the teams of athletes that they service.
This team of students are giving, caring and spirited individuals from various upbringings who are all focused on learning the field of athletic training. Their desire to learn along with their natural nurturing character is what drives them to succeed. They are members of a team that very few recognize. The hard work of this team has assisted me in providing a safe environment for the athletes at my school for over 20 years. Our school is in Florida, and the student body, including the members of team, are both ethnically diverse and most come from working-class families.
