Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a Pre-K teacher in a Title I district in Oklahoma, in which 100% of our students are free and reduced-price lunch. My learners are sweet, kind, and joyful learners. They come in every day anxious to see what we are working on, and ready to master every concept they are given.
My students radiate excitement to learn, so it is fun to give them projects and activities that challenge their creativity.
Each day is a new opportunity to think about academia in diverse, challenging, and fascinating ways. Plus, through the activities they are given, they begin to develop passions and envision themselves as doctors, teachers, engineers, business owners, and much more. It is these moments of recognizing the value of knowledge that fuels my teacher heart and their student minds.

My Project
Pre-K is a critical time for young learners, and a dollhouse would greatly contribute to development. A dollhouse and its accessories offer students countless opportunities to develop their creativity and social skills. For example, several individuals could work together to construct the story of a family's day stuck inside due to a snowstorm. These moments of independent and peer-to-peer thinking are priceless.
Also, by working side by side, learners learn to engage with others for the first time in a school setting; thus also establishing linguistic skills too.
Language is a crucial component of Pre-K curriculum, as each child builds upon this foundation in all facets of life.
