My Students
The music classroom in our school is so special because it has the most amazing students! Every student in the school comes through my classroom for music class, and they all are amazing. A large number of students come from the Umatilla Reservation and if you come to a performance you will hear several songs performed in the Umatilla Language.
Students of all ages love playing instruments in the music classroom.
If you step into my music classroom, you will see students dancing, moving, singing, or playing instruments. I try to incorporate instruments into my lessons as much as possible to keep students engaged and give them the building blocks to learn lifelong skills. I am truly blessed to teach all 430+ students and can't wait for another year!
My Project
When students enter my classroom, they are constantly singing, playing, dancing, and creating. The best way for students to sing, play, dance, and create is with instruments. Authentic instruments, such as Djembes and Tubanos help my students accompany themselves during activities.
Incorporating drums into the music classroom is a playful and creative way to reinforce important concepts!
The addition of Djembes and Tubanos will allow more students to participate in multiple ways in my music classroom. Whether students are dancing, playing instruments, creating music with drums, or singing in my classroom the addition of drums will enhance all of my students learning and music experiences.
