Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are immigrant students with very diverse backgrounds and experiences. They come into my classroom filled with hopes and fears and yet, they work hard to over come many challenges- most notable English barriers in their educational experiences. Eager to learn, as adolescents, filled with social and emotional obstacles, my bilingual students must also navigate adapting to a new country and cultural at a very tender, malleable and impressionable age. Any assistance to help my students grow and learn and adapt more easily to a US educational system is greatly appreciated. Thank you !
My Project
As a Bilingual Social Studies teacher, I am responsible for the intellectual and social-emotional development of ESL students as they slowly integrate into an American educational system and cultural lifestyle aimed at providing a better quality of life in their futures.
My students come from diverse backgrounds, and as a district we aim to provide programs, materials and practices within the classroom that are free from any gender or minority bias and/or discrimination of any kind towards our students in order to better educate them and help develop self efficacy and sufficiency.
