Help me give my students and teachers fun goodies to fill our school wide store. Students and teachers will be earning Scott dollars when they achieve and demonstrate educational growth and choose love and reach their educational goals.
A.S. students are just wonderful learners, trying hard to reach their educational goals. We at A.S., believe that every student can dream, believe, and achieve their educational goals. This school-wide store will help them learn the life skills of economics in the areas of counting, adding and subtracting, percentages, earning and saving, budgeting, and why we work hard in life for things we want.
This school-wide store won't just benefit one class, it will benefit all classes from Pre-K to 6th grade in learning these economic life skills.
We also incorporated student voice and choice when it came to items they wanted to earn. Students shared and wrote to teachers that they would like to earn challenging puzzles such as Rubix Cubes and fidget snakes to help their brain learn differently than technology items. Next, they wanted a variety of art supplies (sketch art, paint pens, tattoos, and variety multi-color crayons) to help them demonstrate their creativity using different media. Creative erasers would help to erase errors and scented pencils and pens would make them smile while learning and completing academic tasks. The scratch art and poppers students and teachers wanted to use during learning games in the topics of phonics, phonemic awareness, spelling, and vocabulary .
Students will practice and demonstrate their General Learner Outcomes (GLOs), as well as the Common Core State Standards and earn Scott dollars to redeem at the store. This real-world connection experience will benefit all students who will gain skills from practicing how to add, subtract, save and budget, to understanding how to calculate percentages from sales to help them navigate this social economic world around us.
