Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school has students who come from low-income homes. We love to see the students engaged in their education as we complete hands-on activities in all areas of learning.
Each of our students is unique!
We have a wide range of knowledge within one classroom. This can be difficult at times to help reach each students' goal on a daily basis. We work hard!
When my students are able to use their creativity it sparks interest in their learning through engagement!
My Project
My students will complete an integrated hands on project in Math when they learn area and perimeter. Students will take many steps in creating their Dream House and eventually build it! First they will draw it on graph paper and decide if they want a one story or two story house. Next they will calculate the area and perimeter of each room. This information will help them figure out the cost of paint and flooring. Then they will design the backyard and front yard.
My students enjoy this project every year and enjoy creating something for them.
