Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are in a Special Day Class for Mild/Moderate disabilities. We have 16 students who are eager learners in all settings. In our classroom, we learn not only academic skills but functional life skills. We learn hands-on and in a fun and creative way!
Our hope in this classroom is that students will learn not only academic skills but also real-life skills that will develop into hobbies and vocational skills for a more enriched experience.

My Project
The materials we are asking for (shovels, rakes, wheelbarrows) will help my students complete a garden project that they have high hopes and aspirations for. I've supplied materials from my own home to help them but we simply do not have sufficient supplies for everyone.
With our project, students will learn in a hands on way that will help develop their communication and their collaborative skills.
Working on this project is also nurturing a love for our planet and a sense of responsibility and duty towards our world.
We believe it's important for our students to take pride in their work and to experience a different kind of labor that is not paper and pencil.
