Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students in the STEAM Academy serves two very special populations of students from accelerated students, to high performing ESL (English as a Second Language). Students will be engaged in the sciences and arts, where a marriage of th two disciplines really pulls the creative and progessive thinking ability of these talented students to career readiness. Students are engaged in collaborative learning communities, emphasizing the importance of communication and servant leadership throughout their academic experience. The 2018-2019 school year will focus on the theme, LIFE: THE HUMAN JOURNEY.
My Project
Students will be able to work in collaborative leaning groups, have round table discussions on work that they have completed with their chromebooks and display their work to their peers daily. This project will benefit students, because the classroom will continue to grow to an independent student focused approach, where students take ownership in their own learning. Students will be able to effectively lead group discussions in the sciences, social sciences, and the arts, while providing peers with effective feedback by displaying their digital learning portfolios consistently throughout the year. Finally, Collaborative Groups will be able to easily display data from their labs, consistently modeling appropriate science and engineering practices.
