Help me give my students flexible seating options and seat sacks for storing supplies.

It’s amazing how 15 little people can steal your heart on the very first day of the school year. That’s exactly what happened with my awesome kindergarten class. This is my first year teaching kindergarten (16 years total), so I admit I was a bit nervous in the beginning. However, this group made my transitioning easy.
My kindergarten class came eager to learn this year.
They are filled with questions and want to share their own life experiences about everything. They are extremely active and sitting still for very long is almost impossible. My group of 15 consists of six girls and nine boys. Among those are five students with learning and/or developmental disabilities. Some are from poor families and need the help of others for supplies, snacks, and support at school. All of them participate in our free breakfast and lunch program. Nonetheless, my students are learning and experiencing success in school.
I would love to provide flexible seating opportunities for my students. My kindred are very active with short attention spans. They are not only learning numbers and ABC’s but they are having to learn to follow rules and sit in their seat for a period of time. This is challenging especially for students that have no previous preschool experience and those developmentally delayed. This project would give me the opportunity to provide a variety of seating options such as wobbly chairs, bean bags, and floor rockers. Students could have choices which helps as learners. I believe student engagement would increase by allowing providing them non-traditional seating options of their choosing.
Our class is the cool class!
That is definitely what my students will say with some “cool” seats and seat pouches. Seat sacks/pouches would help so much with organization. The students will store their daily supplies in them during clean-up which will help with responsibility and classroom community. In previous years, students lost crayons, glue sticks, and pencils. They argued over who took their supply. Having these seat sacks will eliminate uneccesary quarreling and increase instructional time.
