Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The 7th grade students at my campus are the most amazing artists!
They really enjoy using their creative minds and art-making skills. Whether it’s sculpture, pottery, drawing, painting, printmaking—you name it; they enjoy creating it!
My students captivate me with their deep curiosity in the world of visual arts. They really immerse themselves into learning about other cultures, studying ancient artifacts, or investigating new art-making techniques.
With distance learning now in progress, many of my students are now facing the challenge of not having basic art necessities at hand in their homes. I would love your help in providing these supplies to further their art education, which has been significantly interrupted by our global health emergency.

My Project
We have been learning how to observe still life objects using the grid method and charcoal pencils. The materials I have ordered will help them further develop the skills I was teaching them.
We have also been learning about color theory and the science behind how we perceive colors.
My students recently created their own color wheel using the primary, secondary, tertiary, complementary, analogous, and monochromatic color themes. The colored pencils will help them further develop their blending techniques.
I also know that with these materials, they will need erasers and sharpeners, as they use these interchangeably in their art making.
These are just the basic essentials I know that they will need for the remainder of the year.
