Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am in a new art room this year in an urban Title I district. My students experience homelessness, low socioeconomic status, and foster care. A majority of my students are enrolled in the English Language Learner program and struggle daily with communicating with their classmates and teachers. Many of my students who are impacted by being homeless or extremely poor often come to school without basic supplies, experience hunger, and find it difficult to pay attention in class. My students are eager to learn and grow in the art room, and especially to paint; however, our lack of resources limits us.
I was only able to order paper for my art room this year due to budget restrictions.
My Project
My students need step by step drawing books to work independently when they have free time in class. These drawing books allow students to work at their own pace. With so many different topics and instructions, any student can find something they are interested in!
My little artists are color obsessed!
These crayola markers come in 50 different colors. I can already picture the excitement on their faces when they realize how much they can create with so many options. The oak tag will give students large place mats to work on when they are using messy materials. These "messy mats" often become works of art themselves!
