My Students
Many of my students come from low-income households where English is not their first language. They have a wide range of learning needs, some with high skill levels and others with very special needs requiring lesson modification.
They all love to come to a studio based class, and enjoy the challenges and high expectations I set for them.
It is a great opportunity for them to collaborate, give and receive feedback, and build self-esteem through the celebration of their achievements.
My Project
Drawing boards with handles and clips will allow my students to engage in direct observational drawing experiences outside the classroom. Drawing during field trips to museums, walks outside and at-home projects will all be supported with a drawing surface that they can take wherever they want.
With growing emphasis on digital art-making software, there is no replacement for the eye-hand coordination that direct observational drawing requires.
30 heavy-duty 24" x 26" drawing boards with handles and clips from Nasco will allow all students, regardless of whether they choose to pursue a Fine Arts college path, will benefit from this "analog" experience.
