Drawing Away Our Stress

My students need specialty paper and pens to explore their interest in the trendy world of "Zentangle Inspired Art."

Hooray! This project is fully funded

My Students

Drawing is their passion! My sixth grade drawing elective students are passionate about exploring new tools and techniques. Many of them have expressed a great interest in doodling inspired by the Zentangle movement.

My students are so talented, creative, and worthy of your support.

After enduring the heartbreaks of Hurricane Sandy last year, these middle schoolers are funneling their passions, anxieties, and whirlwind of adolescent emotions into developing their drawing interests and skills.

My Project

Our drawing elective class meets twice weekly throughout the school year. We plan to continue to work together to research and explore Zentangle Inspired Art (ZIA), develop our individual doodling aesthetics, and draw upon the meditative, calming nature of this art movement. The students love discovering new patterns and teaching them to others. We have been using ZIA as a forum to get to know each other better and develop our own styles.

I believe in the healing qualities of doodling.

Students in this day and age are under tremendous duress and pressure to perform well on a slew of formal assessments. My students need specialty paper and pens. I hope that these materials will continue to inspire and encourage students to use drawing to help relieve stress and develop a personal style.
