My students need six additional graphics drawing tablets for our school's very first Graphic Arts/Design class.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
Using a mouse to draw and transfer artistic visions onto the computer screen can be a challenge, but with graphics drawing tablets my students will have the tools necessary to meet that challenge.
Our high school has an enrollment of approximately 1085 students with only one Visual Arts teacher.
The students live in and around a small town in North Carolina. I view our students as an eclectic group with farming roots. Though many of the families have a farming background, there is a strong military family presence in our community. This very fact brings into our school students and staff of many backgrounds and influences. Overall we maintain a rigorous, relevant, and safe academic environment guided by positive relationships.
The six drawing graphics tablets will be used to enhance the students’ ability to transfer their design ideas and illustrations to a digital and more portable format. With this resource students will be able to enhance and edit their work without wasting paper with corrections. This is a great opportunity to enhance environmental awareness. Using a graphics tablet promotes collaboration and supports different learning styles. Being able to draw and write notes supports and engages the visual as well as the kinesthetic learner. Students can add notes to preliminary sketches for reference and submit work electronically for critiques. It is amazing when given the resources they need, how the creative and innovative our students can be. To compensate for the lack of resources, we have an innovative creative staff whose goal is to inspire that same creative innovation in our students. These graphics tablets will also help to foster that creativity.
Using graphics tablets would combine access to many resources in one convenient device.
They would promote collaboration and critique, support multiple learning styles, and provide enhanced artistic tools for my students. These are all skills that my students would carry with them beyond their high school career. Your funding of these resources will help our school inspire 21st century citizens that are creative, innovative and technology savvy.
