My Students

My students represent the world. They come from more than 40 countries and speak a variety of languages.

My students range in in socioeconomic status, but the number of students needing financial assistance is high.

We are a “minority majority” urban-suburban public school of nearly 4000 students, and they have high expectations for themselves and each other.

We live and work together and have learned to be tolerant and accepting of each other’s differences. We encourage and love each other.

My Project

Students need a place to think visually. A sketchbook is a place keep track of exploration, research, hash out possibilities, and experiment. Students start with a visual problem, brainstorm, document research, explore ideas for creating their own artworks through planning, experimenting, and reflecting. A sketchbook keeps record of their thoughts, allowing them to look back at past ideas, refine them, and explore new possibilities. It is a space to learn to think ideas through, and a place to understand their personal strengths and practice areas needing development.

These hardbound sketchbooks will give my students a lasting record and sense of pride.
