Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My classes are made up of around 550 students. I currently teach Art to kindergarten through 5th grade. The program is just starting back up after five years. I will see each student once every five school days. We are a Title I school with a high Hispanic population. The students are very eager to learn the fundamentals of Art and create using their wonderful imaginations. They are also very anxious to show their work in our annual Spring Art Show.
My Project
Our students need a way to keep their artwork organized. The posters will be used to create portfolios that will belong to them, but they will leave at school until the end of the year. They will be able to keep organized and feel proud that their papers are protected for our Spring Art Show. They will be able to use the other materials to learn coloring and blending techniques. Most of the students have never had the opportunity to see what they can create when mixing and blending colors. The stencils I’m requesting will be used, when needed, to create titles so the parents will know what art technique we learned through a particular piece of art.
