My students love combining dramatic play with block play. Their favorite activity is to build intricate zoos, cities and roads.
My students are young curious learners who enjoy learning together through play.
My school is a small school in the mountains near a large urban city and the children have a close relationship with nature, the surrounding mountains and animals that live here. They have a natural curiosity about all animals.
My Transitional Kindergarten and kindergarten students are curious about the world around them and learn best through experiences with materials such as blocks and other open-ended imaginative materials. Their favorite dramatic toys are the realistic animals and they love working together as a class to create huge zoos and enjoy holding them, acting out stories with them and creating fun scenes using the animals as characters.
The addition of these animals to our classroom block center will enable the children to work as a whole class to create amazing animal stories.
This fosters social skills, storytelling and language arts skills, critical thinking and problem solving skills.
